Secondly, brand new feedback rating icons have been put in place. So, instead of the medals you are use to seeing, there are coloured stars. Each colour will be dependent on the number of feedbacks a member has received.Yellow Star: 1-10, Green Star: 10-50, Blue Star: 50-100, Red Star: 100-200, Golden Star: 200-300 and the Power Seller Star: 400 upwards.

Laptop or Desktop?

Hi again JamDealers!

Are you thinking about buying a computer? Maybe you're not sure if you want a laptop or a desktop? Well, you should definitely weigh your options because once you have decided on what you want, I'm sure you want to be happy with your choice.

The pros and cons of having either a laptop or a desktop can help a lot in making your decision. After all, knowledge before the purchase is always a good thing!

Pros of a Desktop:

• More bang for your money. If you are a gamer or you just love to play games, then a desktop will be the best option for you. You can get better graphics, better monitors and faster processors with a desktop. And everything is bigger on a desktop so there is plenty of room to put in some cool features to make your experience more fun.

• Cost is less. A desktop will normally cost you less money for the same or even better components than a laptop.

• Easier to use. Let's face it, with a desktop you can purchase a nice keyboard, mouse, desk and its built for comfort. A laptop isn't always comfortable to use.

• Upgrades are easier. A desktop is much simpler to add or remove components to than a laptop.

• More memory and hard drive capacity. The memory and hard drive space for a desktop are usually much greater and also cheaper.

Cons of a Desktop:

• No mobility. When you use a desktop you are basically stuck in one place. When it comes to cons of a desktop, mobility is the biggest and main problem. All other complaints can usually be managed or tolerated.

Pros of a Laptop:

• Mobile. Easy to carry around. You can go anywhere and still have access to a computer. It's great for work or recreational purposes when you're on the go.

• With a laptop you have access to wireless network connectivity while you're on the move.

• Comes in handy for demonstrations or presentations.

• Runs on a battery. Once charged, it can be used when there is a power outage.

Cons of a Laptop:

• Repairs and maintenance can be costly. Since repairs are professionally done the cost is usually more. Servicing as well as laptop parts are also expensive.

• Everything is smaller. So, if you want a full-sized keyboard you have to plug in an additional one. Same goes for a monitor, mouse or any other external device, which can be inconvenient.

• More expensive than a similar desktop.

• Easily stolen. Someone can quickly pick up a laptop and carry off without you noticing.

So, if you absolutely need a computer that you can take with you wherever you go then a laptop would be the best choice. If you just want a good computer that you can access in one location all the time and mobility won't be an issue then a desktop will definitely give you more bang for your bucks.

Apple or BlackBerry?

These two are the big boys in smartphones. So, are you a BlackBerry user or an iPhone user? There will forever be a clash between these two and maybe even the users, but the truth is, both phones are great!

Initially, iPhone had a bad reputation because it was too fragile but Apple proved that the iPhone is quite resistant and it will survive any accident, as long as you don’t drop it on its face. If the screen is not protected, then …well you know how that goes. So go ahead and buy a hard plastic case or a rubber skin and protect your iPhone. The BlackBerry on the other hand doesn’t break easily. If you drop a BlackBerry, the only thing you’ll get, are scratches. Although we don’t like scratches, it’s better than a broken phone, so that’s a big plus for the BlackBerry, right?

The BlackBerry was made for business, so if you have a slow CPU, the BlackBerry will save you but the iPhone has more storage, more RAM and a faster CPU. Even though BlackBerry phones are great for personal use, users are still not really impressed with its applications. Luckily, RIM offers the BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) feature which is definitely a huge hit. But in regards to apps, we can safely say this is where the iPhone wins for sure because there are endless applications available for the iPhone and it has a great interface to go with it.

The iPhone is a fun phone and offers you lots of fun stuff to do. But if you want something more practical, then you should go for the BlackBerry. Another solution for you can be to own both phones. That way you can have all the applications in the world, you can play, do business, keep organized and more.

Let's face it, things were much more simple when apple and blackberry were just fruits! But, only you know what type of phone suits you best. The good thing is that either smartphone you choose, JamDeal has both of them available in this BlackBerry vs iPhone battle.

Hi again!

There has been several discussions among JamDealers about sellers from overseas. Most say they are scammers. What can I say, they usually are. Let's face it, to be on the safe side, don't you think we should avoid these overseas scammers? Besides, there are many great sellers right here in Jamaica.

JamDeal as you know, is geared towards buying a selling being done in Jamaica among Jamaicans. We urge our buyers never to conduct business with anyone from overseas. It has proven to be bad for business on more than one occasion because buyers who pay for items via money transfer don't usually get their item. Anyone on the site that is indeed out of Jamaica will be removed.

I know it's hard to resist sometimes when you spot that perfect item you've been wanting since forever! But no matter how great the item is or how reasonable it is priced, whether it's phones, computers, electronics or even clothes and video games; do not buy any item from overseas sellers on JamDeal.
