Best Sellers on Jamdeal.com

March is "Make an Offer Month". This means the Jamdeal website will be operating as a "JustBuyit" or "MakeOffer" site. There will be no bidding or auctions for this month, sellers will now have a fixed price for items where they decide if they want to accept that price named or not. Now that you know about whats new on the website, here are a few best selling items we recommend on the site for your guaranteed success.

Before you get started, point your cursor to the Jamdeal home page, scroll down and you will notice a list of items, these are the best sellers on the site.

1.Computers: This is no surprise, after all we live in a Digital Age and in order to survive one must have a computer. The most popular ones are Laptops and Tablets of all Brands and Sizes. If you decide to sell these products, be sure to clearly list all specs and any faults they might have. People will be quick to buy a second hand computer for a cheaper price with minor faults.

2.Cellphones: Another important tool of the Digital Age. Best sellers are: Samsung Galaxy and The I-Phone. If you can include accessories like a case or headset that will be quite beneficial to you as these on their own can be quite expensive. If you can treat your sellers to a bundled deal, your item will be off your hands in no time.

3.Cars: We've been seeing a lot of Cars on the website that are moderately priced. Tip for buying cars online; be sure to set up a viewing session of that car as there might be faults that are not visible on a website. See if you can test drive it, check out the engine and see what's going on inside. Lookout for those miles! They tell you how much the car has been driven and can in some way predict the life-span on your car.

4.Video Games: Videos Games are a great way of relaxing in the form of competition or combat
(whatever you like) They can however cost you a few extra bucks if you want a good console or gaming system. Popular gaming systems are X-Box and Playstation. Like cellphones, add a few good games that are not easy to source and that might be expensive. Buyers love little incentives like these.

5. Other Electronics: Headphones, Speakers, Webcams and the list goes on are all great items to sell. They are small, there is a high demand for them and they are relatively inexpensive. People will gravitate to items that are new and in box rather than items that have been used. These other electronics are small and have a shorter life span than the bigger electronics and people want to make sure when they purchase, they get something that is new and will last for a good amount of time.

Forbidden Items : What NOT to sell on Jamdeal

The more things are forbidden, the more popular they become.
-Mark Twain

In the last post we looked at Policies that help to create structure on the Jamdeal site as well as to inform members of their rights. As a community, we strive to make the website as user friendly and appealing to as many different users as possible. Below are a list of items that are forbidden on the website.

Firearms: It is illegal to have a firearm without the proper documentation which would make it considered as "licensed". The sale of firearms on the website is strictly prohibited. Click Here to Read Firearms act as prepared by the Ministry of Justice in Jamaica.

Recreational Drugs: Drugs are illegal! You may not post any form of drug whether herbal or chemical. It is not to be sold on the website. This includes "happy pills" and so on. No form of street drugs should be pushed on the site. Remember, Jamdeal is a trading site not a place for contraband. If we find that any of these substances have been posted, they will be removed right away and the authorities will be contacted if necessary.

Tobacco: This is quite similar to the recreational drugs as mentioned above. No Tobacco or Tobacco based products should be sold on the site. In 2013 a policy on smoking in public spaces was passed. Read Article Here. Encouraging other members to "light up" a  Tobacco is strictly frowned upon.

Unlicensed Music/ Movies: If you visit our entertainment section on the website, you will see a sub sub category for Music, DVDs and Movies. If you are planning on selling any of these, they must be authorized/licensed. Licensed means it is the official version, it bears the official logo, record label and so on. Going on a website like bear-share or a movie site to download a song or music is not considered as official. Believe it or not this is against the law, it might be prevalent in Jamaica but that does not make it right. People spend millions of dollars to get their material out to the public and when a person goes and get that information from a questionable source, they have all right to sue both parties. Let's not take that route for the safety of yourselves and the website.

Software that interfaces with the Jamdeal Website: This is more technical for you to imagine but it has to do with the development of the website. The overall operations on the website are constantly changing (to facilitate the needs of all our members) Any software that could cause complication on the Jamdeal site is banned.

Our Removal of Listings Clause: "Listings are not pre-screened for content therefore Jamdeal reserves the right to remove any listing that it deems unsuitable or in breach of terms and conditions.

Playing by the Rules: Jamdeal Policies

You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else.
-Albert Einstein

Rules are an integral part of any society. Rules are needed to create structure and also helps citizens to know their rights. Selling on Jamdeal is no different, now that you know the basics its time to go over a few policies of the site. Today, we'll be focusing on six important policies.

Most importantly, you must advertise your service or product accurately and truthfully. Selling or auctioning illegal goods is strictly prohibited. There are rules/laws that are considered illegal as it relates to trade in Jamaica. It's simple, be honest and be responsible in all your engagements and make sure that whatever is agreed upon is what is actually delivered.

Advertising: Apart from being a "selling site" Jamdeal is essentially an auction site. It is not to be used as a platform to promote or market business that has nothing to do with what the site is about. It is also not a site to "solicit" support for listings on other sites, that is a huge misdemeanor. The purpose of the site is for products to sell itself inadvertently.

Bogus Listings: This is a big no-no. The Jamdeal site should not be used as a tool to promote inappropriate goods. These might include Pornography or anything considered defamatory ( in any form) or anything that is considered outlandish. All items listed have to actually exist and is true to picture or description.

Categories: Items of a similar category should be posted accordingly. There is no need to post haphazardly or post randomly as this creates clutter and in a sense drives potential buyers away. If a buyer goes under electronics and see bedding , this distracts from the actual listing. On that note, there only needs to be single entry posts, meaning for everything that you post, only one post is needed. There is a thing as Too Much Information and buyers get really annoyed when they see the same item pop up in various categories. This is also a form of Spamming.

Copyright Content: This is a touchy topic. Not everyone who sells might have a Camera and would like a high quality picture to sell their items quicker. Let's face it, Sales is visual people want to see what they are buying before they back out hard earned cash. Google is every body's friend for everything under the sun .. even high quality pictures. Anything you take off the Internet without stating it, is considered as stealing. All item description and images should be your own.

Offensive Language: The Jamdeal site does not support any use of profanity, discriminatory terms or any type of loose arguments that is not related to selling or buying or items. There should be no foul language in any of the listings. The is a G- rated site for "General" rather than Gutter mouth. If your item has to be muzzled, do not post it.

General Consumption Tax: Auctions and classifieds must be listed in Jamaican Dollars ( JMD) and should include the GCT. Tax obligations are the responsibility of the Seller and/or Buyer and should be carefully calculated so that fees are clear.

As you've probably figured out by now, Jamdeal has a number of policies targeted at sellers which outline specific conditions and outlines which enables you to sell on the website. These rules are there to guide you to make the selling process easier, the onus is on you to read them.

The Selling Process

The Selling Process

"The separate, but related, stages forming the activity of personal selling; these include pre-approach, approach, need identification, presentation, handling objections, closing the sale and post-sale follow-up"

Once you've selected the relevant category, click "Next" located below the grey bar at the end of the categories. The Box with the largest space is where you will have to write a detailed description about the phone. Keep it short yet informative, Click next to move to the next step.

5. Upload a Photo and Enter Price: This step is straightforward and easy to navigate. Starting from "Quantity" enter the information paying close attention to cost and quantity. Below that is "Item Feature" which allows you to choose where you would like your Item to be featured. This attracts a price starting from $50JMD to $200JMD. Follow the instructions until it takes you to upload photo. You are allotted up to 4 photos. Wrap up by entering your Parish and the area that is closest to you. Click Next

Digital Camera Buying Guide

We live in a "Digital Age" and we therefore need digital tools to exist in this age. Like Cellphones, Digital Cameras have come a long way, we've said goodbye to film over a decade ago. Shopping for a good Digital Camera can be quite a daunting task If one is not sure what to look for. Below are 5 major things to look for when purchasing a Digital Camera.

Reliability: This is where brand comes in to play. There are certain brands that are synonymous with quality Digital Cameras. These are Sony, Nikon and Canon. These brands have been around for quite some time and they can be trusted. Please also check technology sites for reviews as some models can be faulty. Sites like cnet.com offers a wealth of information for cameras.

Price: As it relates to Digital Cameras, cheaper is never better! There will always be those brands who will make a cheaper version of a high quality camera by using cheaper material to make the Camera. Sometimes people are so desperately in need of a Camera that they purchase a cheap camera that falls apart in months. Think of a Digital Camera as an investment , you might need to dig a little deeper into your wallet.

DSLR vs Point & Shoot: Digital Single Lens Reflex Cameras are not for everyone, they are mainly used by professionals, has a lot of features and is always bulky and heavy. A point and shoot camera is significantly smaller, lighter and easier to use. These cameras are great for beginners or just the average person looking to take great photos. It depends on what your needs are and then you will be able to select that camera.

Megapixels: These are one of the key factors brands will use to sell their cameras. Megapixels have to do with the quality of the pictures/screen and how clear and life-like it will look. It is believed that the higher the Megapixel the better ... not so. Back when Digital Cameras just came out everybody wanted a camera that was 12 megapixels and higher. Today however, Digital Cameras with 5 Megapixels are able to perform just as good as the higher ones.

Accessories: Like any cellphone, cameras come with accessories. This is also an important factor that needs to be worked into your budget. There are certain things that must be purchased along with the camera for it to work at it's full potential. These might include but not limited to Memory Cards, Lenses, Carrying Cases, Spare Batteries/ Re- chargers and so on.
