Playing by the Rules: Jamdeal Policies

You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else.
-Albert Einstein

Rules are an integral part of any society. Rules are needed to create structure and also helps citizens to know their rights. Selling on Jamdeal is no different, now that you know the basics its time to go over a few policies of the site. Today, we'll be focusing on six important policies.

Most importantly, you must advertise your service or product accurately and truthfully. Selling or auctioning illegal goods is strictly prohibited. There are rules/laws that are considered illegal as it relates to trade in Jamaica. It's simple, be honest and be responsible in all your engagements and make sure that whatever is agreed upon is what is actually delivered.

Advertising: Apart from being a "selling site" Jamdeal is essentially an auction site. It is not to be used as a platform to promote or market business that has nothing to do with what the site is about. It is also not a site to "solicit" support for listings on other sites, that is a huge misdemeanor. The purpose of the site is for products to sell itself inadvertently.

Bogus Listings: This is a big no-no. The Jamdeal site should not be used as a tool to promote inappropriate goods. These might include Pornography or anything considered defamatory ( in any form) or anything that is considered outlandish. All items listed have to actually exist and is true to picture or description.

Categories: Items of a similar category should be posted accordingly. There is no need to post haphazardly or post randomly as this creates clutter and in a sense drives potential buyers away. If a buyer goes under electronics and see bedding , this distracts from the actual listing. On that note, there only needs to be single entry posts, meaning for everything that you post, only one post is needed. There is a thing as Too Much Information and buyers get really annoyed when they see the same item pop up in various categories. This is also a form of Spamming.

Copyright Content: This is a touchy topic. Not everyone who sells might have a Camera and would like a high quality picture to sell their items quicker. Let's face it, Sales is visual people want to see what they are buying before they back out hard earned cash. Google is every body's friend for everything under the sun .. even high quality pictures. Anything you take off the Internet without stating it, is considered as stealing. All item description and images should be your own.

Offensive Language: The Jamdeal site does not support any use of profanity, discriminatory terms or any type of loose arguments that is not related to selling or buying or items. There should be no foul language in any of the listings. The is a G- rated site for "General" rather than Gutter mouth. If your item has to be muzzled, do not post it.

General Consumption Tax: Auctions and classifieds must be listed in Jamaican Dollars ( JMD) and should include the GCT. Tax obligations are the responsibility of the Seller and/or Buyer and should be carefully calculated so that fees are clear.

As you've probably figured out by now, Jamdeal has a number of policies targeted at sellers which outline specific conditions and outlines which enables you to sell on the website. These rules are there to guide you to make the selling process easier, the onus is on you to read them.
