Back in the late 90's the Blackberry was King! We all wanted one and they were the highly sought after phones in Jamaica . If you went on the road and even just a part of that phone was showing , there was a guarantee that if you checked your pocket or bag that phone would be missing . Yes ! the Blackberry was King!
Today however, King Blackberry is dead. It has been replaced by the I-Phone and Galaxy. These phones are well equipped with all the features needed for the "Digital Age". The Problem with having a Blackberry in Jamaica is with all the "hidden costs" involved. Lets say you've started the week with $500 in credit. If you make two calls to the same network i guarantee that after that second call you will have under $100 . There is some technical error with the Blackberry Data Services even if you are not on a plan.
Another big issue with Blackberry is there seem to be a lot of faulty models. Any company will have bad products, however they choose to discontinue them as with the case of Apple with the Twentieth Anniversary Mac. Most of the models from the 8520 down is faulty , sure the responsibility is on the consumer to upgrade , but in these times who has funds just laying around to buy a new Blackberry each time one is released.
